Day 3 - Roadtrip to Cali

I don't know what it was about today, but we were exhausted! It was amazing to sleep in. We made breakfast with Erin and enjoyed a lesiure morning listening to the rain and swapping DIY project ideas.

We were looking forward to our drive today because it was only going to be 3 hours to our next destination. It wouldn't be a trip without some Starbucks coffee!!!

We found out that Starbucks was doing a buy one (holiday drink) get one free. I walked into Starbucks and asked if they were doing their BOGO and he said yes, but not for 8 more minutes. I told him we couldn't wait and decided to order my drink and only get one. Halfway through making it, he came back over to me and told me that he would be happy to make me my second (and free) drink! So we told him we would LOVE one. Josh decided to try the peppermint mocha that we got and actually managed to drink about half of it! I was thoroughly impressed considering this is the guy who doesn't drink anything hot and doesn't like coffee!

Here is proof that he tried it!

We continued on our drive, dissapointed to find out that we actually had 4 hours. But we kept driving and made it to Kentucky!

We then found out that we were heading towards severe thunderstorms and a tornado warning!!! We have never experienced a tornado before and we much prefer earthquakes (although I know that a lot of people disagree with me).

It started raining on us.

And we even had to pull off the side of the road for a few minutes waiting for the crazy, can't see anything in front of you, rain, and wind to stop. Thankfully we didn't run into any hail or tornadoes, but we did drive through a city that had quite a bit of devastation. Then we made it to Illinois!

And the sunshine came out!

We finally made it to grandma and grandpa's house and got to spend the evening with the whole family! We had dinner together, swapped stories, and even played a game that involved paper...(I can't remember what it is called).

We had a wonderful day and we are very eager for tomorrow. A day of no driving!!!! We are thankful for the extra time we have to make this drive so we can see family and friends! :)

Goodnight all!
